Emergent Learning Community Project
Jillaine Smith leads the advanced practice work of the ECLP, including annual cohorts, and serves as a faculty member and coach.
Whether coaching individuals or teams, being a thought partner with organizational leaders, or facilitating learning conversations, Jillaine keeps a group’s work and program goals at the center of any learning activity from strategy development to day-to-day operations. What are you seeking to accomplish? What difference would that make? and What will it take to get there? are frequent questions you’ll hear from Jillaine. Introduced to Emergent Learning in 2007, Jillaine became a founding partner of Fourth Quadrant Partners, LLC in 2011, and a co-designer and faculty of its Emergent Learning Certification program. Jillaine’s 25+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector brings an appreciation for the power dynamics and other complexities of learning between grantmaker and grantee organizations. Jillaine and her partners are thrilled to be transitioning, effective January 2023, to project directors of the Emergent Learning Community Project, a project of the nonprofit Global Philanthropy Partnership. Here, she will continue to support building the field of Emergent Learning in the social sector. Jillaine has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from University of California San Diego, a certificate in Organizational Development from Georgetown University, and formal training from the Coaches Training Institute and International Institute for Social Change.
