Jim Stiles leads education programs, including the annual open enrollment program and customized training programs, stewards financial management of the ELCP, co-leads fundraising efforts and serves as a faculty member and coach.
Jim helps social change organizations understand their results and improve them over time. Education has been at the center of his work for 30 years, first as a university leader and faculty member and now directing Emergent Learning training programs and coaching individuals and teams. Working in both the US and Africa, he has created and evaluated professional development programs, lectured and supervised graduate students and worked with philanthropic organizations to understand impact A social scientist by education, Jim advocates Making Thinking Visible as a powerful way to understand oneself, our teams and learn to make our work richer and create a deeper impact in the world. Prior to his work with Emergent Learning, he completed his doctorate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and served as its Associate Dean for Programs and spent eight years as Assistant Professor at the University of Witwatersrand.
