Susan Foster brings over 25 years of evaluation, learning, and strategy experience to her work. Since 2007, she has owned an independent consulting practice that supports complex, community-based initiatives seeking to improve the health and well-being of underserved communities. Her evaluation approaches are multi-method, participatory, and intended to serve the learning needs of funders, community members, and organizations. For the past decade, she has worked closely with foundations aiming to transition toward trust-based philanthropy and more equitable grant making. Susan participated in the 2021 Emergent Learning Community of Practice Cohort and has integrated Emergent Learning into her work in philanthropy. Susan’s previous work at Abt Associates Inc. in Cambridge, MA included evaluation of health-related system change initiatives in tribal, urban, and rural communities across the country. Ms. Foster holds Master’s degrees in Public Health and Social Work from Columbia University.
